Woodburned and painted whole gourds can cover a broad range of subject matter and a broad range of art . . . from realistic portraits of horses to folk art cats to old world-type Santas to whimsical snowmen. . . Each one is unique and designs often gain even more personality from the natural shape and markings of any given gourd. They are easy to display on beautiful metal candle stands that can be found in many stores such as Bed, Bath & Beyond; Hobby Lobby (my personal favorite); Michaels; AC Moore; World Market; Pier One; etc. If someone prefers not to use a stand, I do finish the bottoms of the gourds either with "feet" or by sanding (if they do not naturally sit on their own), if they prefer. Gourds can be left with their natural stem or can be finished with a any number of things such as antique drawer pulls, metal bead caps, etc. Prices on whole gourds start at $25 for the smalls, which usually range about 5 to 6" at their widest point. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss options if you have an idea in mind.
